How to Enable SharePoint Contact Lists

Connect YakChat to your SharePoint Contact Lists so that all your contacts are stored in one place.

SharePoint provides you with the perfect way to create and share contact lists with staff members who have access to your SharePoint site. This means that all your contacts can be maintained securely in one shared list.

YakChat accesses Sharepoint Contact Lists, using the secure Microsoft Graph API, so that you and your co-workers can easily select contacts not just from SharePoint, but also from Microsoft Outlook, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 Groups, Teams Members, and those contacts you’ve stored in YakChat. 

Instructions: How to enable SharePoint Contact Lists

Step 1

Firstly, go to the Sharepoint site that your YakChat users have access to.

Then select App from the + New drop-down menu.

Step 2

Select the Contacts App and enter a name for your Contacts list.

Then select Create.

Step 3

Select + New in the menu ribbon of your Sharepoint Contact List, and add the contact that you will share with your co-workers who have permission to view your Sharepoint site.

Now click Save to add your contact.

Step 4

After saving your contact, check that your Contacts list is displayed in Sharepoint Contents and that you can open the list and view its contacts.

Step 5

Click on the Settings in YakChat and turn on the Sharepoint Contacts toggle to enable Sharepoint Contacts.

Click Save

Step 6

Copy the URL of your Sharepoint site from the browser.

Step 7

Paste the sharepoint site URL, delete the “https://” and click Save.

E.g. “https://yourcompany.com/sites/marketing” is entered as “yourcompany.com/sites/marketing”

Step 8

Click on the Contacts tab and use the pull-down to select SharePoint Contacts.

Step 9

Click on the Contact list and wait for the contacts to be displayed from your Sharepoint list.

Select the contact then right click to view the pop-out menu and select Send Message.
